At age 51, chick-rock guitarist and singer Joan Jett has still got it. Last night she played a non-stop show at the OC Fair to a nearly sold out amphitheater. She delivered a back to back set with her former partner in angry-teen-girl crime, Cherie Currie, of their all-girl band The Runaways. Earlier this year, their 70s rock sound was re-popularized with the film release of The Runaways, starring Kristen Stewart (as singer/guitarist Joan Jett) and Dakota Fanning (as lead vocalist Cherie Currie). Even after Cherie's 20-year absence from the rock scene, her hard, rough-around-the-edges sound and killer fashion sense never left the stage.

Here are a few of my shots from last night's show...
Cherie Currie at the OC Fair; opening for Joan Jett. The crowd exploded when she performed "Cherry Bomb".

See that catsuit? She makes 51 look good.
Major fist pumping ensued with "Do You Wanna To Touch Me".
Great music. Simple set.
The stellar performance of their cover of Tommy James and The Shondells' "Crimson and Clover".

Listening to "American Nights" by The Runaways, Japan 1977
Classic Joan Jett. Classic 80s video.
Nice pictures, and interesting comments, but a few corrections are needed. Joan was the rhythm guitarist of the Runaways, and not the lead guitarist. Lita Ford was the lead guitarist. "Crimson And Clover" was not the encore performance. It was the second to last song, which was followed by "I Hate Myself For Loving You". Joan and the boys then came back out for the encore, which consisted of the songs "A.C.D.C" and "Everyday People". Just thought that you should know.
