Project Playhouse 2010 at the Irvine Spectrum

"There is no life I know to compare with pure imagination." - Willy Wonka

HomeAid Orange County's 19th annual Project Playhouse is on display at the Irvine Spectrum Center in the Giant Wheel Court. This year's theme - Turn a Playhouse Into a Home - plays out in seven unique designs. The Project benefits HomeAid Orange County in their effort to build and renovate housing developments, which serve homeless families throughout OC. These whimsical and functional playhouses will be auctioned off in a live auction on Friday, September 10.

The OC Gazette had the opportunity to preview the Village this past weekend. (Catch a sneak peek in our photos below.) Vote for your favorite design online; you decide who will be awarded the People's Choice Award.  Looking for something to do this weekend? Bring the kiddies and pay a visit to the Project Playhouse Village for a tour (only happening on weekends) inside the doors of the houses.

"Tween the House and the Pool"
by McCarthy Building Companies

"TradePartners Dreams and Memories"
by Shea Homes
(Does this look familiar? It's inspired by Disney's UP)

"Lyon's Triple Crown Saddle Club"
by William Lyon Homes, Inc.

As an architect's daughter, who grew up playing in a custom, life-size playhouse, I can say with authority: these digs could trump any episode of MTV Cribs. (Plus, they are really tiny, and really cute!)
